Back in June we introduced you to Matt Gumley, or rather re-introduced you, as the 19 year old Florida native had already made his mark in entertainment from an early age, performing on Broadway,\u00a0as Chip\u00a0in the \u2018Beauty And The Beast\u2019 musical at age 7. He\u00a0continued on this path for the next decade, with roles in three more Broadway shows \u2013 \u2018Mary Poppins\u2019, \u2018Elf The Musical\u2019, and \u2018The Addams Family\u2019,\u00a0and in TV shows such as ‘Drake and Josh’, and ‘Modern Family’.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Matt’s first single, ‘Subway Rider’, from his debut EP, ‘Six Degrees Of Separation’, has now been followed up by his latest track, ‘Fallout’, an intense and sad song of love gone wrong and the hurt experienced by one who is still deeply in love.<\/p>\n

There’s a nice reference in the lyrics to Matt’s EP, ‘Six Degrees Of Separation’, and the guitar led instrumental is a nice adjunct to Gumley’s crisp clear vocals, the quality of which should come as no surprise for someone with such a wealth of performance experience.<\/p>\n

Matt started playing piano when he was 5, taking up ukulele at 14, which was closely followed by guitar, bass, drums\u2026he\u2019s now able to play ten separate instruments, including mandolin, sitar, and banjo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI really wanted to be a musician and songwriter,\u201d he says. \u201cI used to go down in the orchestra pit and sit by the various instruments and listen for as long as I could until my next cue, and then go back upstairs. It was the most magical thing.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Accompanied by a music video directed by The Unpaid Interns<\/a>, which in turn focuses\u00a0on the fighting couple, as well as moody shots of a pensive Gumley wandering around New York City, ‘Fallout’ is a beautifully executed song that should see some radio play.<\/p>\n

Matt Gumley will appeal to fans of Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber, his bad boy good looks and velvety vocals should prove a real hit with those who are already familiar with his acting, as well as\u00a0those who are looking for the next big thing in music.<\/p>\n

The four tracks\u00a0on \u2018Six Degrees Of Separation\u2019 are the result of\u00a0a heavy duty culling of a year\u2019s worth of songs \u2013 showing that there\u2019s plenty more to come from this young artist.<\/p>\n

Co-written with songwriter and producer, Austin Zudeck, and recorded in Zudeck’s New Jersey studio (the pair met while waiting in line for tickets to a Broadway show: as Gumley says,\u201cIf that\u2019s not fate, I don\u2019t know what is\u201d), ‘Fallout’ has a different style\u00a0to Gumley’s previous release, ‘Subway Rider’, in that it’s slower and more laidback. But as Matt says,<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always tried not to put myself in a musical box, whether that\u2019s writing songs that don\u2019t all sound the same or not making music for just one demographic.”<\/p>\n

\u201cMusic is where it\u2019s at for me, and always has been.\u00a0It just took me growing up and maturing to realize it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
