Canadian artist Lowell will release her brand new EP on August 26th<\/sup>.\u00a0Entitled\u00a0\u2018Part 1: PARIS YK\u2019<\/em>, the three-song collection looks back on a formative period of her\u00a0life, inspired by the grey-scale landscape of Canada\u2019s Yukon, the far-northern territory where she spent time growing up. Reflecting the northern lights and tundra with synonymous sound, Lowell blends music and image, contrasting the stark Canadian North with her vibrant life as a musician.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The first single from the forthcoming EP, \u2019High Enough\u2019, offers an alternative\u00a0view of the checkered past Lowell chronicled on her debut album, ‘We Loved Her Dearly’. The video was directed by Sylvain Chauss\u00e9e and sees Lowell awash with abstract colours. Of the video, Sylvain said:<\/p>\n

“The music video for \u201cHigh Enough\u201d is a cinematic study of Lowell (as a performer) through the use of movement and extensive colour printing techniques.”<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\u2018High Enough\u2019\u00a0was produced by Grammy and Juno Award-nominated\u00a0Zale Epstein\u00a0(Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q) and mixed by\u00a0Davey Badiuk\u00a0(Dragonette, Tegan and Sara). The single pays great attention to Lowell\u2019s patent sonic detail, blending cinematic atmosphere with an undeniable beat. Known for her collaborations with artists like Icona Pop, Apparatjik, Grandtheft, and more, \u2018High Enough\u2019 shows Lowell settling into her\u00a0own<\/em>\u00a0element.<\/p>\n

On her 2014 debut album,\u00a0We Loved Her Dearly<\/em>,\u00a0Lowell<\/strong>\u00a0arrived as a confident young singer-songwriter on a wave of inspiration. Brimming with ideas that challenged conventions of pop music, songs like \u201cThe Bells\u201d and \u201cI Love You Money\u201d pointed to the many different dimensions of Lowell\u2019s unique character. Equal parts art-punk brat and sex-positive icon, Lowell\u2019s music confronted issues like LGBTQ and women\u2019s rights with unbridled courage, lifted by the exultance of dance-floor dream-pop.<\/p>\n
