Moving into traditional R&B music from his Christian gospel background, Mark J Morgan’s music comes from the influences of his life, and all the associated parts of it, including faith, family, relationships, various circumstances and trials. Mark taught himself both piano and guitar, and\u00a0is a talented songwriter whose music transcends all emotions and lifestyles.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Mark J Morgan’s EP, ‘Parables Part 1’, released on 11 July, is six songs which showcase his considerable skills. Opening with ‘With You’, a beautifully soul-enriched track, which pays homage to his faith and upbringing, the second song, ‘Parallel’ is sung from the point of view of someone watching another go through\u00a0trials, and offering their help. It’s a gentle R&B track with Mark’s beautiful voice weaving in and out of the track.<\/p>\n

The music of Mark J Morgan feels like it owes a lot to his church upbringing, there’s a huge organ-sound in all the songs, which fits in nicely with the title of the album, ‘Parables’. Third track, ‘Hold You Down’, is the first single off the EP, and, like ‘Parallel’, it’s encouraging and tells of friends and family supporting one another.<\/p>\n

Mark J Morgan writes about everything – no topic is off limits: the good, the bad, and the simple day to day events he feels inspired to write about. Mark says of his writing,<\/p>\n

“I look at every situation to my best ability through the lens of my faith in Jesus, but I’m not gonna trip being called anything I’m not because I know who I am & why I’m here.”<\/p>\n

“I believe this is what I was created for: to reach out to those going through situations that most artists don’t touch. I’m vulnerable in my approach but really believe all of my music should have a message & provide resolution in some way.”<\/p>\n

With musical influences including Lauryn Hill, Musiq Soulchild, and Kanye West, Mark J Morgan’s music is stirring and moving, and altogether beautiful.
