At age 11 Effie asked her parents if she could “go pro” and sign up with the E Minor Choir. This led her to a few years later being mentored by Lemar, and garnering much praise from the MOBOs and Radio1 Xtra. She knew there was something not quite right with the formula, and while still a teen, she walked away from it all, deciding to do it on her own terms rather than be shaped by a team.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Now in her early twenties, Effie feels ready to make that leap. After having spent the past eighteen months developing her own material Effie has enjoyed finding her own voice.<\/p>\n

Effie played the festival circuit last summer, performing at Soundclash, Isle Of Wight, Mutiny, Royal Ascot Tea Party and the Common People Festival. She’s now excited to bring her solo show on the road, to showcase her new material later this year.<\/p>\n

Effie’s EP, ‘Could Be You’, released today, is four tracks of pop with an urban feel. It’s a unique sound, and perfectly complements her stunning voice. Opening track, ‘Pressure’, is uptempo and vibrant, a nice contrast to second song, ‘Could You Be The One’, a balladic, almost anthemic song in which Effie unleashes her considerable vocal talents.<\/p>\n

Track three, ‘Lose’, takes it down a notch even further, with a sweet soft love song, with a modern edge. Fans of Effie will know this song from her live shows, and it\u00a0maintains all the live performance.<\/p>\n

Fourth and final track on the EP, ‘Just Friends’, brings the pace back up again, and it’s frantic and hectic, a strident dance track.<\/p>\n
