Arts Alliance<\/strong> announces today that it has acquired ‘Revolution – New Art for a New World’<\/strong>, a new feature documentary from Foxtrot Films<\/strong> created with the support of\u00a0Alisher Usmanov<\/strong>, Founder of the Art, Science and Sport Charity Foundation<\/strong>, and will handle worldwide sales in all media.<\/h4>\n

Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Margy Kinmonth<\/strong>, ‘Revolution – New Art for a New World’<\/strong> is a bold and exciting feature documentary that encapsulates a momentous period in the history of Russia<\/strong> and the\u00a0Russian Avant-Garde<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Drawing on the collections of major Russian institutions, contributions from contemporary artists, curators, and performers and personal testimony from the descendants of those involved, the film brings the artists of the Russian Avant-Garde<\/strong> to life. It tells the stories of artists like Chagall, Kandinsky, Malevich<\/strong> and others \u2013 pioneers who flourished in response to the Utopian challenge of building a New Art for a New World, only to be broken by implacable authority after 15 short years.<\/p>\n

Stalin\u2019s rise to power marked the close of this momentous period, consigning the Avant-Garde to obscurity. Yet the Russian Avant-Garde continues to exert a lasting influence over art movements up to the present day. Revolution – New Art for a New World confirms this, exploring the fascination that these colourful paintings, inventive sculptures and propaganda posters retain over the modern consciousness 100 years on.<\/p>\n


\n‘Revolution \u2013 New Art for a New World’ was filmed entirely on location in Moscow, St. Petersburg,<\/strong> and\u00a0London<\/strong>, with access to The State Tretyakov Gallery, The State Russian Museum<\/strong>, The State Hermitage Museum<\/strong> and in co-operation with The Royal Academy of Arts<\/strong>, London<\/strong>. The film features paintings previously banned and unseen for decades, and masterpieces which rarely leave Russia. Contributors include Museum Directors Professor Mikhail Piotrovsky<\/strong> and Zelfira Tregulova<\/strong> and film director Andrei Konchalovsky<\/strong>. The film also features Matthew Macfadyen, Tom Hollander, James Fleet, Eleanor Tomlinson<\/strong> and Daisy Bevan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This acquisition follows Arts Alliance<\/strong>\u2019s successful worldwide distribution of Margy Kinmonth<\/strong>\u2019s ‘Hermitage Revealed’<\/strong> in 2014, which saw the title shown worldwide in over 30 territories. Revolution – New Art for a New World will be distributed by Arts Alliance\u2019s sister company, Park Circus with theatrical activity slated for late Autumn 2016, ahead of the 2017 centenary anniversary of the Russian Revolution.<\/p>\n
