Oiffy, Fortissimo Films and Signature Entertainment are delighted to celebrate the World Premiere of dystopian fable THE WHITE KING on Saturday 18th June at Edinburgh International Film Festival (at Cineworld 3, 18.20) where it’s nominated for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature Film and The Award for Best Performance in a British Feature Film. The film will be released in the UK by Signature Entertainment with international sales through Fortissimo Films.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

THE WHITE KING<\/strong> is the directorial debut of husband and wife co-directors J\u00f6rg Tittel<\/strong> & Alex Helfrecht. <\/strong>The pair have won awards in several creative areas including film, theatre, videogames, nad comics. Produced by Philip Munger at Oiffy, with Teun Hilte (‘Black Book’), and post-production partner Chimney Group, the film boasts an impressive cast including Agyness Deyn<\/strong> (SUNSET SONG, HAIL CAESAR), Jonathan Pryce<\/strong> (GAME OF THRONES, BRAZIL), Fiona Shaw<\/strong> (TREE OF LIFE, HARRY POTTER), \u00d3lafur Darri \u00d3lafsson<\/strong> (THE DEEP, TRAPPED, TRUE DETECTIVE), Greta Scacchi<\/strong> (WAR AND PEACE, THE FALLING), the voice of Olivia Williams<\/strong> (AN EDUCATION) and introducing Lorenzo Allchurch<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

THE WHITE KING<\/strong> is an adaptation of the internationally acclaimed and award winning Hungarian novel of the same name, written by Gy\u00f6rgy Dragom\u00e1n<\/strong>. Also shot entirely on location in Hungary, the film follows Djata, a 12-year-old boy coming to grips with his father\u2019s imprisonment by the totalitarian state he calls home. Preyed upon by the secret police and venal dignitaries, Djata and his mother (Agyness Deyn) are forced to navigate a world of propaganda, abuse and vicious gangs, making them risk everything to reunite their family.<\/p>\n
