The documentary film of the ground-breaking exhibition David Bowie is, created by the Victoria and Albert Museum, London in 2013, is being re-released in Vue cinemas and selected venues across the UK on 14 July. <\/strong><\/h4>\n

Filmed on the closing night of the exhibition in 2013, this cinema re-release offers another opportunity to explore this international retrospective of the extraordinary career of David Bowie<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Described by The Times<\/strong> as \u201cstylish & outrageous\u201d<\/em> and The Guardian<\/strong> as \u201ca triumph\u201d<\/em>, the David Bowie is exhibition was the fastest selling in the V&A<\/strong>\u2019s history, featuring a remarkable collection of handwritten lyrics, original costumes, fashion, photography, film, music videos, set designs, Bowie\u2019s own instruments and album artwork from the David Bowie Archive<\/strong>. The film takes the audience on a fascinating journey through the exhibition with special guests including legendary Japanese fashion designer Kansai Yamamoto<\/strong>, Pulp<\/strong> front-man Jarvis Cocker<\/strong>, and other collaborators, to explore the stories behind some of the key objects that document Bowie\u2019s artistic career. The exhibition curators, Victoria Broackes and Geoffrey Marsh, provide expert insight into the most memorable music videos and original costumes, as well as more personal items such as never-before-seen handwritten lyrics, album cover artwork, set designs and diary entries, which reveal the creativity and evolution of Bowie\u2019s ideas.<\/p>\n

The V&A<\/a> was given unprecedented access to the David Bowie Archive to curate the first international retrospective of David Bowie\u2019s extraordinary career. Bowie was one of the most pioneering and influential performers of modern times and the exhibition brings together more than 300 objects including handwritten lyrics, original costumes, photography, set designs, album artwork and rare performance material from the past five decades. Bowie\u2019s work has both influenced and been influenced by wider movements in art, design, theatre and contemporary culture and the exhibition focuses on his creative processes, shifting style and collaborative work with diverse designers in the fields of fashion, sound, graphics, theatre and film. The exhibition is currently on a global tour, at Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bologna, Italy, from 14 July-13 November 2016 and Terrada G1, Tokyo, Gapan from 8 January-9 April 2017.<\/p>\n
