With his new album, ‘V.One’, set for release on 27 May, Cheshire-based musician Glyn R Brown presents the sound track to the best film you’ve never seen.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

A self-taught composer who plays by ear (he can’t actually read music at all, which hasn’t held him back in the slightest), Glyn has created music for advertisements, video games, and films. ‘V.One’ has been self-recorded, using FL Studio, and reFX Nexus 2 and Kontakt sample libraries. The album contains thirteen brand new instrumental tracks – all of which are epic, moving, and indeed, very very beautiful.<\/p>\n

Brown cites his musical influences as including Basil Poledouris, Hans Zimmer, Jerry Goldsmith, John Williams, and Steve Jablonsky. Not surprisingly, with such inspirations, he was called upon to write the soundtrack of the short film, ‘The Vanished’<\/a>, released in 2005. From 2001-2005, Glyn was a big name in the Commodore 64 remixing scene, and it was during this time he had a No. 1 hit with, ‘Rastan’, a remix of an arcade game tune.<\/p>\n

Brown took six years out of remixing in order to raise his family, only taking on small projects when time allowed. He found during this period that he was once again inspired, this time by the TV shows and cartoons he was watching with his son, and started writing. He rediscovered some of his earlier work stored in an old hard drive, and set about recording his new album.<\/p>\n

On first listen it’s hard to believe that Glyn has no formal musical training. ‘V.One’ is an epic album, with dramatic sweeps and rhythms, choral harmonies, entire orchestras. It’s even harder to believe that all this comes from a computer. What isn’t hard to believe is that Glyn is very talented indeed. Our favourite track, ‘Icarus’, was probably the least dramatic and sweeping song on the album, but it was no less moving and stirring. with its\u00a0insistent backbeat\u00a0and choral effect.<\/p>\n
