Trey McGee, performing as GP, wants to draw\u00a0attention to the senselessness violence that takes place in and around his city of Brookhaven, Mississippi.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

‘God Bless’ is written, produced and performed by Trey, and is inspired by Tupac’s ‘God Bless The Dead’. It’s a celebration of loved ones that have passed on, and highlights that we are all the same, we all have only one life to live, no life is more valuable than any other. Why do the good die young? Why are lives shattered through the actions of someone behind\u00a0the barrel of a gun?\u00a0\u00a0Wives left without husbands, husbands left without wives, mothers left without children.<\/p>\n

With this song, GP wants people to realise that it’s all senseless loss. That it needs to stop. Politicians can rant about it all they like, but it’s not putting an end to the violence. People still die, families and communities are still ripped apart.\u00a0GP conveys his message\u00a0in a poetic rap that is both heart felt and rhythmically complex.<\/p>\n

‘God Bless’ has a really mellow vibe, with the song staying on topic and really pushing the message effectively. It’s a tough subject, but GP gets it across really well.<\/p>\n
