Denver Colorado four piece, Use The Sun, are an experimental band whose sound draws deeply\u00a0from the well\u00a0of rock: alternative, indie, math and even post.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Formed originally as a three piece by\u00a0Fischer Harris (Bass), Zack Marshall (Vox\/Guitar), and Zander Velleca (drums), the band reshaped to take on Max\u00a0Speyer (Vox\/Guitar) and Jack Long (Drums), when Zander left to follow other projects.<\/p>\n

Recorded at Evergroove Studios over five days during their winter break from school,\u00a0Use The Sun’s EP, ‘Springtiming’, is a six track album that harks back in places to grunge, and to others to the Brit rock of the early 90s. It’s sad and melancholy and yet polished. Use The Sun are ambitious and committed to their craft, and it shows.<\/p>\n

Use The Sun gigged 3-4 times a month, wrote new material, rehearsed, juggled school and jobs: oftentimes working as many hours as their parents, to achieve their goal. The band faced the added emotional struggle of losing two close friends;\u00a0Simon Katz and Charles Gallione, to whom the album is dedicated. This tragedy spurred the band on, and enabled them to funnel their energy into the album, with the result of a newly strengthened bond and unified sound.<\/p>\n

‘Springtiming’ is an EP filled with the sorts of themes you’d expect from a band with such experiences, as it should. Growing up, the realisation that things will never be the same, but at the same time the ability to move forward, to deal with the loss of youthful bliss. The collective experiences of the band combine to give them the maturity which is reflected in their sound.<\/p>\n
