‘The Boy You Knew’, the latest EP from Bristol band Why We Love, is out this Friday, 25 March. It’s five songs of sixties guitars, lush\u00a0sibling harmonies and all round gorgeousness.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

We’ve not hidden our love for Why We Love since we first came across them with their song, ‘Lucky One’ earlier this year. Our love was cemented with their latest release, ‘Staying Awake’. Now, on listening to their EP, ‘The Boy We Knew’, we’re ready to swear allegience\u00a0and undying love. Can we rave any more about this album?<\/p>\n

Well yes we can.<\/p>\n

Opening with ‘Staying Awake’, we’re transported on a boppy, poppy wave that doesn’t let up. From the Housemartins’ stylee of that song to new track, ‘Lucky One’, which draws on the sounds of the sixties, and harmonies\u00a0reminscent of\u00a0The Hollies. Third track, ‘Surrender’,starts out as\u00a0a rockier song, but soon returns to the feel-good flavour that characterises their sound.<\/p>\n

Track four, ‘Hit The Ground Running’, starts out with the drums that hold the tempo for the entire song. Masterfully put together, the band have this time channelled The Shadows, and feel like they’ve been transported through time from the soundtrack of a Cliff Richard film. Fifth and final track ‘When The End Came’ again borrows heavily from the 60s with a surfer rock style sound.<\/p>\n

Why do we love Why We Love? Because we can’t help it.<\/p>\n
