With a sound harking back to early 80s Brit pop comes Brooklyn artist, Joseph Sant, with his new EP, ‘Sea White Salt’.

Growing up in Seattle, Washington, but now living in Brooklyn NY, Joseph Sant’s track, ‘Nor’easter’, from his EP, ‘Sea White Salt’, is a dreamy, breezy song that invites the listener to play it over and over.

The drum beat introduction sets the pace for the rest of the song – when Joseph’s voice comes in – wavelike – at 20 seconds, the listener is transported on an aural adventure. There’s a feeling of peace and serenity coming from this track. The return of the drums at just before 2 minutes 40 seconds feels like a marker, a second wave. It demands the listener pay attention once again; it’s like the tide rushing in.

It’s this sound of the sea that Sant plays upon. His EP, ‘Sea White Salt’ has been influenced by not just his lush green mountainous Seattle upbringing, but also the changing climate of New York: not just the physical, but the economic. The contrasting elements come together in harmony in his music, creating wave like sounds.

‘Sea White Salt’ is a collaboration between Joseph and his good friend, producer Gabriel Gavin. It was recorded in a few overnight sessions in the middle of winter. Sadly Gavin’s Brooklyn studio, Four Foot Studios, was evicted just after the work was completed. The album also features Brooklyn’s Stirling Krusing on Lap Steel, with long time collaborator Tyler Graham on Drums. Bassist Georgia Tan brings the group to five, with the band all performing behind Joseph’s name, vocals, and Guitar.
