Hip Hop, to\u00a0those who’ve never listened to it, is often dismissed as meaningless words set against discordant music. More often than not however, it’s a genuine, pure form of social commentary, with\u00a0the music complex and multi-layered.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Enea, a 22 year old rapper\u00a0from Detroit, is one such artist\u00a0whose music touches on the issues facing him and so many people his age, things like suicide, love, hate, money and lack of it. Rapping since the age of 8, Enea became serious about his music at 16. His\u00a0debut mixtape, ‘Accept Me (Except Me)’, was released last August; the a 17 track album is his first solo effort after his initial rapping releases with the group, CashHounds.<\/p>\n

Enea\u00a0describes the album as, “A little bit of soul, a little bit of trap, a little bit of everything and an inside look at the struggles of a depressed artist.” Songs like ‘Fall Back’, with lyrics like, “I wanna change the world and the process not change me” show Emea for who he is – a young man\u00a0who isn’t satisfied with the hand life might have dealt him – he’s determined to go far. In fact, he says as much in his Facebook bio: “Here to provide different, quality music. Fame is inevitable.”<\/p>\n

Enea’s latest track, ’21’, released February 6, is a humorous song from the point of view of a man who feels that he’s too old to still living at home – yet doesn’t quite see how he can get out of there. Less rap than the tracks on ‘Accept Me’, it’s a really hooky song accompanied by a fun\u00a0video. We really enjoyed the guitar and backing vocalists echoing the “twenty…one” refrain.<\/p>\n
