This apparent perfectionism has been harnessed to good effect: lead song, &#8216;Slackjaw Romance&#8217;, is a neo-sixties style track, while &#8216;Cassava&#8217; is a much rockier song, maintaining a cautious\u00a0balance between Sollazzo&#8217;s strident lyrics and the instrumentation. Third song on the EP, &#8216;Punch It&#8217;, is a pleasingly cacophonic mix of hard rock drums and guitars and swirling keyboards &#8211; a psychedelic trip of a song it loops around the ears and settles deeply into the brain.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"17828\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/2016\/02\/bad-reed-punch-it-with-their-debut-ep\/bad-reed-ep-cover\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Bad-Reed-EP-cover.jpg?fit=1200%2C1125&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"1200,1125\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-title=\"Bad Reed EP cover\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Bad-Reed-EP-cover.jpg?fit=640%2C600&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17828\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/Bad-Reed-EP-cover.jpg?resize=640%2C600&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Bad Reed EP cover\" width=\"640\" height=\"600\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Speaking of the EP, Bad Reed said,<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cReally what made this work is that we were all dedicated to our instruments and our aspirations. As a result of that, the four of us, in the beginning would rehearse five or six times a week. This went on for about a year. The three songs on our EP were written and then re-written multiple times. Although doing that would seem unusual but it was us figuring one another out and pushing ourselves and band mates to find something truly unique.
