Savages are back with another stupendous single, just days before their eagerly-awaited\u00a0second album hits the shops on January 22.<\/h4>\n

Inspired by\u00a0<\/em>American\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>poet-activist\u00a0Minnie Bruce Pratt,\u00a0<\/strong>Adore\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is a marked change of gear from previous release \u00a0The Answer\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>(reviewed\u00a0here<\/a>).<\/p>\n

A world away from their usual frenetic power punk, it’s a brooding, \u00a0elegiac, yet ultimately life-affirming work.<\/p>\n

Featuring arguably frontwoman Jehnny Beth<\/strong>‘s most affecting vocal performance to date,\u00a0Adore\u00a0<\/em>sees the band showing the confidence to develop their sound.<\/p>\n

Ay\u015fe Hassan<\/strong>\u00a0(bass),\u00a0Fay Milton<\/strong>\u00a0(drums) and\u00a0Gemma Thompson<\/strong>\u00a0(guitar), provide a skeletal backing, accenting the mood where necessary, but pulling back to let the track breathe and allow Jehnny Beth’s voice to take centre stage.<\/p>\n

Video director\u00a0Anders Malmberg <\/strong>keeps it simple – complementing and reinforcing the thrust of the music with striking images of the band intercut with Jehnny Beth’s in-your-face straight to camera vocal.<\/p>\n

A fitting showcase for Savages\u00a0growing versatility and a mouth-watering curtain-raiser for the full LP Adore Life.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Savages embark on five-date UK tour in support of the album beginning with a show\u00a0at Bexhill’s\u00a0De La Warr Pavilion on February 18 and finishing at the Irish Centre, Leeds on February 23.<\/p>\n
