When Jamie was on tour in 2007 and landed in Williamsburg, New York, his luggage wasn\u2019t there to meet him.<\/strong><\/p>\n
By heading out and buying a suitcase and jacket a story was created; the suitcase lining was tampered with and a book of lyrics by Drewford Alabama was enclosed. This is where it gets even more interesting. Jamie hunted down a relation of Drewford, Mary-Anne Alabama, and in Summer 2010 he found out Drewford loved writing but didn\u2019t have the courage to sing to strangers.<\/p>\n
The next few years saw Jamie learning to play a guitar and record using a tape recorder to create what\u2019s now known as \u2018The Life and Times of Drewford Alabama\u2019.<\/p>\n
<img src=\"https:\/\/essentiallypop.com\/epop\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/12\/Drewford-Alabama-I-Go-To-Sleep.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"600\" class=\"so-widget-image\" style=\"max-width:100%; height:auto; width:100%; display:block\">\n\n\n<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">The song, originally recorded by Ray Davies of The Kinks, but made famous by The Pretenders, was recorded on a boat floating down the River Thames in December 2012. It has a beautiful, dreamlike quality, which Jamie believes was aided by the recording process:<\/p>\n<\/code><\/pre>\n

<p class=\"p1\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">Now, in the third instalment this year of the incredible story of Drewford Alabama, Jamie presents, 'I Go To Sleep', featuring The Lost Brothers.<\/p>\n<\/code><\/pre>\n
Jamie first came across the song in 2002, when he was playing with Sia, who featured it on her set list. Never forgetting this song, Jamie knew exactly what to do when the final page of Drewford’s notebook simply said, “Now I go to sleep…”.<\/p>\n
Considering how busy Jamie has been with his work with the Stereophonics (a number one album and a tour headlining festivals and arenas throughout Europe), it’s hard to imagine where he finds the time to present such a wonderful story and eclectic collection of songs.<\/p>\n
His previous Drewford Alabama release, ‘Time Is On Your Side ft Bnann’, was championed on Radio X, and also featured on Radio 1, Radio 2, and BBC London. ‘I Go To Sleep’ is a thank you gesture to all those who showed love and for their continued support of the project, throughout the year.<\/p>\n
