Savages are back with a vengeance,\u00a0announcing their return with blistering new single The Answer,<\/em> a teasing trailer video for new album Adore Life<\/em> and a string of UK live dates, including a special show at the 100 Club in January.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The Quartet:\u00a0Jehnny Beth<\/strong> (vocals), Ay\u015fe Hassan<\/strong> (bass), Fay Milton<\/strong> (drums) and Gemma Thompson<\/strong> (guitar) warmed up for their British tour with an appearance at\u00a0the Day of the Dead Festival at London’s Tobacco Docks on Saturday (7 Nov) alongside\u00a0Crystal Fighters, The Horrors, ZOE\u00a0<\/strong>and others.<\/p>\n

The follow-up to their Mercury Prize-nominated debut Silence Yourself, \u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Savages\u00a0say\u00a0Adore Life\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>is “about change and the power to change”.<\/p>\n

In what amounts to something of a manifesto, the band go on to say the record’s\u00a0“about sticking to your guns and toughing it out. It\u2019s about now, not tomorrow. It\u2019s about recognising your potential.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s about finding the poetry and avoiding the clich\u00e9. It\u2019s about being the solution, not the problem. It\u2019s about showing weakness to be strong. It\u2019s about digging through your dirt to look for diamonds. It’s about claiming your right to think unacceptable thoughts. It\u2019s about boredom and the things we do to drive it away. It\u2019s about being on your own so you can be with people. It\u2019s about knowing what it means to be human and what it might mean one day. It\u2019s about the parts and the sum of the parts.<\/p>\n

“It’s about the music and the message: together, one and the same. It\u2019s about bass, guitars, drums and vocals. It\u2019s about opening-out and never, ever dying. But most of all it\u2019s about love, every kind of love. Love is the answer.”<\/p>\n

Heady\u00a0stuff indeed and if that’s not enough to whet you appetite the band have released this trailer, with former Black Flag\u00a0<\/strong>hardcore heavyweight\u00a0Henry Rollins <\/strong>voicing text from\u00a0Jazz Cleopatra: Josephine Baker in her time<\/em> by Phyllis Rose.<\/strong><\/p>\n
