Let us tell you a little more….

This collaborative project is 70’s soul singer Bobby Caldwell (‘What You Won’t Do For Love’) and producer Jack Splash (Alicia Keys, Cee-Lo-Green, Missy Elliot).

Following on from the release of debut track ‘Break Away,’ featuring the none other than Jessie Ware, it hasn’t taken long for the second single ‘Breaking Up’ to be unleashed. Featuring Deniece Williams (‘Silly’, ‘Let’s Hear It For The Boy’) and rapper Eric Biddines, the track is a refreshing musical throwback. Their new take on R&B sees the contrasting vocals work alongside each other to become a story telling affair, there’s something within the simple repetitive chorus which’ll have you singing along before the track is out. The funky backing line flutters between a hip hop and soul infused influence creating a simply unique sound.

The story behind the union in short occurred when Caldwell’s wife got in contact with Splash via a Facebook page the Caldwell’s had set up for their dog Stella…causing Splash’s assistant to get involved in this strange scenario and find out it wasn’t a hoax. Following a meeting, a few drops of whiskey and the realisation they were musical soul mates, Cool Uncle was formed. This story alone should be enough to draw you into checking out just what the duo are all about!

Keep your eyes on Cool Uncle as their debut self-titled album will be released on November 13th via Fresh Young Minds.

With a name like Cool Uncle we had high hopes for what to expect from this exciting project.
