London based hard rock band Redwire do it with a modern edge. Forming in the spring of 2014, they’ve performed in most of the London gig circuit, and now find themselves branching out into other counties. Making a name for themselves with their high energy live shows, Redwire released their self-titled debut EP early this year and built on that momentum with a UK tour in the summer.<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The EP opens with the rip roaring, \u2018The Captain\u2019 \u2013 a snarling, growling song; you\u2019re left in no doubt that this is no pop album \u2013 it\u2019s power chords all the way \u2013 while maintaining a feeling, somehow, of a sea shanty. It\u2019s a cautionary tale about choosing your friends wisely.<\/span><\/p>\n

Redwire comprises Marios Patsalovsavis, D Goomani, Aimee Rivers, and Steve Taylor. They do rock with a passion. Lyrically the songs, particularly second song, \u2018Run Down Town\u2019 remind us a lot of AC\/DC and this is no wonder, as the band cite the legendary Aussie rockers as one of their primary influences.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2018Street Lights\u2019, third song of the EP, is a much gentler, mellow song, more in the style of Guns\u2019n\u2019Roses, and is the perfect showcase for Mario\u2019s skilled vocals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Song number 4, \u2018Born To Lose\u2019, is effectively a statement of intent from Redwire \u2013 they may, in the words of the song, \u2018be born to lose\u2019 but they\u2019re fiercely determined to succeed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last song on the EP, \u2018Rock \u2018n\u2019 Roll Lies\u2019, has more than a hint of The Ramones about it, and is fast and furious, with Mario spitting out the words with a venomous passion. His rising vocals soar to the skies with a range that we\u2019re most envious about.<\/span><\/p>\n
