Hailing from Alaska, singer\/songwriter, Chris Watkins is the founding member of the band, the Drunk Poets. Picking up the guitar aged 10, Chris formed alternative band, Drunk Poets when he was 16, greatly influencing the Alaskan music scene in the 1990s. Although members have come and gone, Chris has continued with the name, while at the same time releasing several solo albums, including ‘Nail It Down’, ‘Lazy Mountain Moon’ and ‘Winter Birds’. Two of the most popular Drunk Poets albums are ‘Empty Rooms’ and ‘Going Down Slow’.<\/p>\n
Chris cites his musical influences as U2, Talking Heads, and Bob Dylan, and he still lives in Alaska, in Anchorage, where he continues to write and record music. His most recent album, ‘London Can Take It’, was released in March this year. Chris is joined on the album by Eric Cobb, one of the original Drunk Poets lineup. ‘London Can Take It’ reminds us a lot of Shawn Mullins’ 1998 song, ‘Lullaby<\/a>‘ with its grungy, drawn out spoken word verses and husky sung choruses.
