Vienna in Love is\u00a0a British alternative rock band formed in London in the summer of 2011. With their own unique variation of stadium rock, they draw on influences from both older and contemporary\u00a0bands such as U2, New Order, The Cure, Coldplay, Placebo, The Killers.<\/p>\n
The band has performed extensively in the UK, Europe, and the United States, including The Viper Room in West Hollywood and the Scala in London.<\/p>\n
Their debut album, ‘A Modern British Icon’, released in December 2013 received critical acclaim and the video for their single, ‘Addiction’, was featured on MTV Europe, as well as other European music channels.<\/p>\n
‘Bushid\u014d’ is their follow up release, coming out in Feburary this year. An experimental electro EP, ‘Bushid\u014d’ is a\u00a0compilation of bonus\u00a0Remixes from ‘A Modern British Icon’. The EP represents Vienna In Love’s collaborations with various International DJs and Dance Producers, including Pablo Dominguez, Alberto Funes, Evangelos and Anika Sade.<\/span><\/p>\n New album, ‘Resistance’, is due out later this year.<\/p>\n We had a chat with Vienna In Love, to find out how they tick.<\/p>\n EP: Tell us the Vienna in Love story!<\/strong><\/p>\n Branko: \u00a0Vienna In Love is a story about a chance encounter that went on to bring\u00a0fun and travels to a group of friends in their quest for ultimate musical fulfillment.<\/p>\n EP: It’s a catchy name for a band – why Vienna In Love?<\/strong><\/p>\n Victor: We were trying to find a unique name and we liked the concept of using the name of a city combined with the second most powerful word of the world “Love” – and finally we got a good one “Vienna In Love”<\/p>\n EP: What was it liked playing the EXIT Festival?<\/strong><\/p>\n Victor: They gave us a great opportunity. We had only released our debut EP ‘Love Is Like War’, which contained 5 songs, and they let us play in front of great bands like Gossip and the legendary Duran Duran. The most important thing was why they said they brought us to EXIT\u2026The director said he really liked our sound; he probably thought we\u2019d be a good warm up act before the headliners took to the stage.<\/p>\n EP: You’ve played extensively across Europe and the US – what’s been your favourite venue and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n Victor: Personally, my favourite venue was Razzmatazz 1 in Barcelona where we filmed our live music video for Addiction. It was not so much the size of the crowd, which was approximately 2,500; but most importantly the atmosphere, sound, and lighting, which was absolutely perfect and unforgettable.<\/p>\n EP: Talk us through ‘Resistance’. When does that come out? Describe the songs and so on.<\/strong> Branko: \u00a0Resistance is a re-invention both in terms of the visual aspect and sound. It\u2019s based on an alternate futuristic world which takes us away on a musical journey through the use of soundscapes and colour. We’re really looking forward to\u00a0releasing it, however, the exact date is yet to be confirmed. We will have more info soon.<\/p>\n EP: What is the song-writing process for you?<\/strong><\/p>\n Victor: We are very cinematic, landscapes and emotion come first. We like to record drums and then bass followed by epic post rock guitars and synths and ending with the lyrics. I am not a real singer so maybe that\u2019s the reason why vocals are the last thing in the process.<\/p>\n EP: ‘Tokyo’ is inspired by Blade Runner. Is the film a favourite of yours?<\/strong><\/p>\n Branko: \u00a0Yes, absolutely. The setting of the movie is quite unbelievable – the atmosphere takes you to a different world and broadens your mind both mentally and visually.<\/p>\n EP: Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?<\/strong><\/p>\n Branko: Travelling the world.<\/p>\n EP: What advice do you have for those who are just starting out in music?<\/strong> Branko: Have lots of fun and enjoy. If one day you do realise and decide to want to do music seriously, make sure you are resilient and that you have it in your heart to do whatever it takes to get you where you need to be – and also realise that there is no one correct route to get you there; It is a mixture of many things and paths.
