She’s extensively toured the UK and North America, achieved major press acclaim, and seen her music added to TV shows (Skins) and Hollywood films and trailers (Scream 4, 127 Hours). Her latest incarnation, ‘MALKA’, comes with a new album, released today through Tantrum Records.

Tamara continually pushes herself musically – the song-led ‘electro-alt-pop’ is a step away from her earlier work, which was more acoustic guitar-based. She has found that recording under the ‘MALKA’ name has given her complete studio freedom to apply her own ideas and production techniques, and playing all instruments herself. Schlesinger presents an album which is imbued with originality, and it is this thinking outside the box which has earned her enduring success in the music industry.

‘MALKA’s album, ‘Marching to Another Beat’, is an intimate projection of Tamara’s current outlook:

“This album is really an honest account of where I am right now, a crossroads where playful and youthful exuberance meets with some maturity and a sense of exploring my place in life”.

Lead single, ‘I Never Needed Love’, (which was released May 18), is immensely uplifting with its carefree chants, tribal rhythms, claps and heavy layering.

Check out MALKA on her website, Twitter, and Facebook. ‘Marching to Another Beat’ is available on iTunes.

You can hear ‘I Never Needed Love’ on MALKA’s SoundCloud:

Tamara Schlesinger’s latest incarnation, ‘MALKA’, comes with a new album, released today through Tantrum Records.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[57
1611,1612,1613,1607,1605,1608,67,77,226,1610,1609,1606
post-11151","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-new-artists","tag-127-hours","tag-6-day-riot","tag-electro-alt-pop","tag-i-never-needed-love","tag-malka","tag-marching-to-another-beat","tag-new-artists","tag-new-release","tag-pop","tag-scream-4","tag-skins","tag-tamara-schlesinger
Rock Back For Nepal is a new three volume compilation, released by U.S. indie record label Patetico Recordings, featuring 60 indie artists from around the world that have come together to contribute their music in an effort to raise funds for victims of the recent earthquake disaster in Nepal.
https://i0.wp.com/essentiallypop.com/epop/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/a1456329805_16.jpg?fit=700%2C700&ssl=1&resize=350%2C200
https://i0.wp.com/essentiallypop.com/epop/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/a1456329805_16.jpg?fit=700%2C700&ssl=1&resize=350%2C200 1x, https://i0.wp.com/essentiallypop.com/epop/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/a1456329805_16.jpg?fit=700%2C700&ssl=1&resize=525%2C300 1.5x, https://i0.wp.com/essentiallypop.com/epop/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/a1456329805_16.jpg?fit=700%2C700&ssl=1&resize=700%2C400 2x
Making her debut on March 31st is RUMI, otherwise known as Julianne Murray.
