Australian folk pop band\u00a0the Germein Sisters have been compared favourably to Haim, The Corrs, and First Aid Street. Siblings Georgia\u00a0(lead vocals, guitar, piano), Ella (electric cello, bass, backing vocals), and Clara Germein (drums, guitar, backing vocals) combine catchy melodies, heartfelt lyrics and close harmonies, and have been gaining a steady following across the world.<\/p>\n
Growing up on the family’s bushland property in the Adelaide Hills, the band was formed in 2012, with their first show as a three piece in their hometown. With multi-instrumentalist Georgia writing the songs, classically trained Ella on electric cello and bass, and Clara on drums, the three blend perfectly with inseparable sibling harmonies, the sound of which can only be made by members of the same family.<\/p>\n
Their mother Sue responded to the group’s rising popularity by stepping into the position of manager, and it wasn’t long before they attracted the attention of Irish producer Billy Farrell, who had previously worked with acts such as The Corrs and Westlife. Working with Jealoustown Studios’ Stuart Gray, the girls released their debut album, “Because You Breathe”, which entered\u00a0the Top 100 Album Sales Charts in Switzerland. Their single, “Da Da Doo” also charted in Germany’s\u00a0Top 100 Mainstream Radio Charts.<\/p>\n
Following nominations for Best Pop Artist, Best Band and Best Song, “Da Da Doo” in the Fowlers Live Music Awards and first prize in the Tamworth Country Music Festival Busking Competition (non-country section) in 2014, it soon became obvious that the Germein Sisters were hooked on a rising star. So far in 2015 they’ve opened for both Sting and Paul Simon in Adelaide, and will perform at this year’s Isle of Wight Festival, and the Women of the World Festival in Germany. For a band with only 3 years under their belt, their touring has been phenomenal, visiting Australia, New Zealand, China, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, as well as London in the UK and Toronto, Canada.<\/p>\n
Not just talented musicians, the Germein sisters are also keen surfers and animal lovers. They’re Ambassadors for World Vision Australia, and are proud to use their music to promote positive messages to young people. Georgia is a carer for orphaned kangaroo joeys through Fauna Rescue SA, and is known for her charity work for disadvantaged communities in South Africa and Nepal. She has also won awards for her songwriting, including seven ASME Young Composers Awards, and the national winner of the Red Cross Radio Competition (Nova). Her song \u201cTake My Hand\u201d was selected for the South Australian Tourism Commission\u2019s International Marketing Campaign.<\/p>\n
