Christmas is fast approaching and some would argue (me) that the perfect gift to find under the tree this year would be Jedward. The flaxen haired Irish singing duo might suggest their place is higher up the tree with their latest TikTok video, which sees the pair try their hand at the popular ring light trend.
Jedward have long declared themselves to be fans of this most wonderful time of the year, and over the past decade or so have treated us to some great Christmas photos and videos. Who could forget when they visited Santa’s workshop and dressed as the sweetest ever elves, or the year they did an online advent calendar of sorts, posting photos daily, each dressed in different Christmas sweaters?
This year, they’ve got into the Christmas spirit earlier than ever, in November posting a video where each is either side of Gemma Collins, while emulating (and singing) East 17’s seasonal classic, ‘Stay Another Day’, and dressed in the plushest of faux fur coats.
Now in Los Angeles, where they are putting the final touches on Album number 5, they posted a video on December 1 of John trimming the Christmas tree, accompanied by long time best friend, Tara Reid. The pair have an apartment in the same building as Tara, and famously “bubbled” together last year during the first lockdown of the Covid 19 pandemic. You can watch the video here, but be sure to mute if you’re playing “Whamageddon”, because the clip features ‘Last Christmas’ in the background.
Which all brings us to yesterday and their latest Christmas cracker. One of the most popular trends on TikTok at the moment is of people passing a ring light behind their heads and revealing themselves transformed by the light. Jedward’s version sees them standing in front of the Christmas tree, fully clothed…but they become the most stunning tree decorations when the ring light is passed over their heads. You can watch the clip on Instagram below, or on TikTok here.
With 20 days still to go until the Big Day, we can only wonder what Jedward will come up with next! Perhaps they’ll gift us with a Christmas single? We can only dream!
