Canadian rock trio Summer Ran make every event black tie. They know that first impressions mean everything; and where they come from, Qualicum Beach, the retired folk far outnumber the young, so elegant dress is always appreciated. Additionally, Will McLelland (Guitar, Vocals), Josh Beausoleil (Bass, Vocals), and Logan Hale (Drums) never slouch when it comes to their sound, which captures elements of their influences – Coldplay, Oasis, and The Rolling Stones – while at the same time, maintaining a unique magnetism and an authentic approach. Their previous release, ‘South of the Border’, has so far received more than one million streams on SoundCloud, and their latest release, ‘Hold Her Hand’ is bound to follow. One thing’s for certain, they’ll never not be the gentlemen who deliver authentic tunes paired with a “band next door” attitude.
In the video for ‘Hold Her Hand’, Summer Rain cover love, in its purest form. It’s wholesome, yet somehow chaotic, and unexplored, while small acts of kindness stand out and show what love is all about. Such small acts include polishing the significant other and refilling their engine oil…because the object of Josh’s affections isn’t a human. It’s a motorcycle. It’s not just any motorcycle, though; she’s a Honda CX500, a special series developed and released in the 1970s.
With sweet lyrics sung by Will, while Logan’s drumming emphasises every beat, Summer Rain formally performs in suits under a cherry blossom tree. Meanwhile, Josh gets into an argument with his motorbike lover and storms off. He’s not angry for long however, as a notification of an apology buzzes his phone, he immediately runs back to the garage, where his beloved is waiting for him, engine on, ready to be taken for a spin.
