Jor’Dan Armstrong – ‘My God’

Jor’Dan Armstrong has been performing since he was five years old, but he’s loved music since he was even younger than that, attending church as a very small child. His admiration for God has stayed strong throughout his career, remaining a constant theme in his songs, albeit with a mainstream twist, allowing him to rewire the world of Gospel Music.

Jor’Dan’s latest single, ‘My God’, sees him perfectly cross-over from fearsomely powerful Gospel to up-temp Hip-Hop/RnB. It’s a combination that made perfect sense to Jor’Dan. Initially it’s difficult to recognise the track as a Gospel song, with catchy Hip-Hop beats and well thought out rhymes. But examine the lyrics closely, and you’ll find it’s Gospel through and through. Jor’Dan sings throughout of his need to brag about God, and how God never backs down, and never loses. His wholehearted commitment is demonstrated fully, with Jor’Dan proclaiming his love of God to the rooftops and beyond.

The clip for ‘My God’, just like the song, feels more like a Hip-Hop video than one for Gospel. We see Jor’Dan in a car dealership with none other than Lil Yachty, filling the role of the ultimate salesperson. After some negotiations, the pair decide that the perfect vehicle for Jor’Dan is a gorgeous blue Lamborghini, complete with all the trimmings. We go for a ride along with Jor’Dan, and in between the riding parts, Jor’Dan is seen standing in the middle of a basketball court, and parking garage, where he lays down his verses. We get some distorted, flashing glimpses of him throughout the video, which finally ends on a fade out with Jor’Dan dancing on the basketball court.
