LA based multi-instrumentalist Dom Whalley continues the legacy of the London street soul sound alongside his eccentric glitter and grit style in his new single, ‘Ride’. Best known as a founding member of electronic band Jungle, Whalley has performed on prestigious stages around the world, not least of all Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, and Coachella.
Debut solo single ‘Ride’ sees Whalley change gear in terms of his musical style, and empower it with his own composition of life and love. Written as an expression of wanting to ride off to an adventure, ‘Ride’ also shows how cravings degrade in times when you have nowhere to ride off to – this is especially true given the song was written in the midst of the pandemic. The video therefore is all about chasing a rabbit but never quite getting there – lost in a limbo. ‘Ride’ was produced between London and LA as Dom left his hometown to start his solo career and film scoring endeavours.
“‘Ride’ is a song I wrote at the start of the global pandemic while in London, where I was stuck, far away from home,” says Whalley. “I had just moved in with my wife Mackenzie Munro (director and star of video).”
