Asah M Releases Latest Single, ‘Sophumelela’

From Barkley East, in South Africa, Asah M started to sing as a social outlet, alongside her friends and family. Real name Asanda Masawe, she also started writing poetry, and united her two passions when she began writing songs. An Afropop singer songwriter, ‘Sophumelela’ is Asah M’s new single, and was inspired by the people in her hometown.

Speaking of the single, Asah M said,

“As the only female aspiring musician in my hometown, I wanted to inspire all the talented young people and show them nothing is impossible.”

‘Sophumelela’ is strong and proud, with Asah M’s unapologetic strength of character on full display, as she offers words of motivation and inspiration to overcome all obstacles. Produced by gTbeats, the track will resonate with fans of other strong female singer songwriters and performers, such as Sia, Rihanna, and Ghanaian artist, Wiyalla, aka the “Young Lioness Of Africa”. Additionally, the song features a verse from Dumisani Uyehova, whose stunning delivery and incredible lyrical flow lifts the track even higher.

‘Sophumelela’ follows on from Asah M’s debut single, ‘Fak’imali’, which was released last year. No doubt the singer will have plenty more surprises to come in her musical career!
