The Loft Club – ‘Flicker’ ft. Lisa Loeb

‘Dreaming The Impossible’ was released in August last year, and is the debut album for The Loft Club. New single, ‘Flicker’, features legendary actor and singer-songwriter Lisa Loeb, in the only collaboration on the record.

Comprising Daniel Schamroth (guitar/vocals), Jamie Whyte (bass/vocals), Kieran Chalmers (drums), Josie Stoneman (vocals), and Sam Piper (lead guitar), the group hail from Exeter, and their impact is about to spread beyond the UK and into the entire world. ‘Dreaming The Impossible’ feels like a perfect album, absolutely magical, and with themes including love, heartbreak, friendship, and loss. Again, perfect.

‘Flicker’ takes us back to the late 60s, and yet feels super fresh, with a sound that reminds us of The Feels. The music video gives that same vibe, shot under a filter which gives it the feel of a Super8 film. It opens with a couple walking through a wildflower meadow, apparently dressed for their wedding, the groom wearing a crow mask, and the bride in bunny ears. The band performs right in the meadow, while Lisa Loeb’s contribution – recorded of course during this pandemic – is in the form of an animation, her face however is not out of place as cartoons of birds also feature.

In these wintery days it’s a great reminder of the summer sunshine and sets us up for the days ahead of us. Click below to watch the music video for ‘Flicker’, and find out more about The Loft Club and their music by checking out their official website.
