Maid In Manhattan, Covered In Dublin: Jedward’s John Grimes Records Stunning Cover Of Daniel Bedingfield’s ‘If You’re Not The One’

With a falsetto to die for, Jedward’s John Grimes today released a stunning cover of Daniel Bedingfield’s song, ‘If You’re Not The One’. The track was originally recorded for the 2002 film, ‘Maid In Manhattan, which starred Jennifer Lopez, Ralph Fiennes, and Natasha Richardson.

As with all his covers, it’s just John and his guitar, recorded straight to his phone, with no further editing. Given that, it’s remarkable just how rich and pure John’s falsetto is when singing at the 1 minute 30 mark, and then again just before the end. Stunning. Prefaced with the statement that, “this has always been a song I liked, and I hope you like it too”, John’s passion for singing and love for the song rings through with utter conviction. Additionally, his tremolo, together in conjunction with his slightly breathy, yet strong, vocals, adds a further element of sensuality – as if he’s really singing to the object of his affections. Once again, John Grimes succeeds in taking a song and imbuing it with his own spirit, and making it his own.
