Wai Lana – ‘Lay Me Down’

Yoga, wellness, meditation, and all round healthy lifestyle aficionado Wai Lana has provided inspiration for millions of people around the world, primarily through public tv’s longest running fitness series, which she created, directs, and hosts. As part of her lifestyle promotion, Wai Lana has released a new single and video, every year since 2015, to coincide with International Yoga Day. This year, while the world is in Covid-19 lockdown, she’s released perhaps the most inspirational and hopeful single of them all, ‘Lay Me Down’.

The track contains a message of hope and peace, and enables Wai Lana to provide yet another means of healing by way of her music, through which she shines health and positivity.

The title and lyrics of ‘Lay Me Down’ are based on a prayer taken from Psalm 4, in the Old Testament of the Bible, but one doesn’t have to have a Judeo-Christian belief system in order to benefit from the prayer, which can be interpreted as a thank you to a higher power. Strings swell, while the piano gently soothes the listener, while providing energy at the same time. We’ve covered her previous releases, ‘Colors’, from 2018, and ‘Oh My Sweet Lord’ (2017), and we know that ‘Lay Me Down’ will likewise become an instant favourite for Wai Lana’s fans, which is a simple request for a good night’s rest, essential to our good health and overall happiness.

Just like her previous videos and in keeping with the theme, the clip for ‘Lay Me Down’ is notable for its gorgeous scenery. Unlike previous years however she has been unable to travel the world to shoot her latest project, so instead used CGI to transport the viewer to watch her wandering through ancient Mayan ruins, and gorgeously tranquil European snowscapes. The reality of course is that she’s never left her bedroom, with its open fire, which is seen at either end of the video.

‘Lay Me Down’ serves as the perfect bedtime song, and is guaranteed to give the listener a peaceful night. You can watch the music video below. Find Wai Lana online on her  official website.
