Makes My Blood Dance – ‘Power Of The Lightside’

Makes My Blood Dance’s latest single, ‘Power Of The Lightside’, is nearly 5 minutes of full on power metal, paying homage to those heroes of the 70s and 80s, with thrashing guitars and throbbing drums, and enthusiastically emoted lyrics which serve to empower the listener.

The video for ‘Power Of The Lightside’ is anything but bright, with the band playing in a dimly lit room, to what seems to be an exercise class. The group, barely lit against the shabby brick walls, work out for hours, doing a cardio routine that seems slightly out of place against the heavy metal music. It’s a fish out of water style story, which, conversely, goes well with the repeated line, “dig out the truth”. They’re in the wrong place, but they’re doing the right thing.

Later in the clip, we see the band in more familiar surroundings, playing in a packed club of rock fans. The shots flash to the cardio workout-ers and by this time, seeming yoga-practitioners, doing their thing against the background of the wall of sound, and then back again to the clubbers, who now are pogo-ing about having the time of their lives.
