Atlanta native Forrest Kleindienst channelled his thoughts into lyrics, which in turn were channelled into music to become songs.
Growing up in a single-parent family with limited resources, Forrest took to his skateboard and music, submerging himself into the freedom it gave him. Joining with guitarist Matt Vassy and drummer Zendé Murdock, the band name is drawn from both Kleindienst’s first name and Vassy’s similar middle name, and also plays on the hardships the trio have experienced. But despite all the ups and downs of their lives, they’re not dead yet, putting their time, energy, and angst, into their music.
The clip for ‘The Light’, Forrest Isn’t Dead’s latest single, was shot at Videodrome, an old skool local Atlanta icon which has seen the demise of Blockbuster, and refuses to die. A fitting location for a band who likewise refuses to give in. The three are lit up by neon lighting, shot through a kaleidoscopic lens. Forrest implores the listener to meet him at the light – but it’s never made clear where that exactly is. The three members blend and merge and become one, leaving us wondering if The Light is actually located inside Forrest’s head.
