Reverse Mechanic – ‘Head In The Clouds’

‘Head In The Clouds’, from Reverse Mechanic, is a true love song, from a concept album, ‘Best Proposal Ever’, which is essentially a visual record of the culmination of the courtship of Joe Wistrcill (aka Reverse Mechanic), and his lady love, Angela.

Joe Wistrcill assures us that “Some girls deserve songs written for them, while others should be the subject of entire albums”. The Minnesota-based rapper, singer, and songwriter leaves us in no doubt as to which side Angela belongs. ‘Head In The Clouds’, which comes with a travelogue of a music video, is the apex of the album, and by the end of the clip it’s certain we know this love is the real deal.

The video takes in the beauty and historic charm of the twin cities of Minneapolis and St Paul. We see the couple visit Can Can Wonderland, situated in industrial St Paul; they visit the incredible cathedral of Saint Paul; they dine at Tullibee, a restaurant which has become famous for its Minnesota menu. It’s a tour guide of the local area, and leaves you with a familiarity with the area, if you hadn’t been there before.

Using rap and song Joe shares his love for Angela, and it soon becomes very clear how lucky she is to have such a guy in love with her. His love is boundless, he is head over heels; he is ensnared and happy about it. The hip hop and guitar segments are seemingly at odds yet are in the capable hands of Reverse Mechanic, equally matched. The love on the faces of both Joe and Angela indicate that the couple are also similarly matched.
