Nile Rodgers & CHIC To Play Lloyd’s Amphitheatre This Summer

Iconic music legends Nile Rodgers and CHIC will take to The Amphitheatre on Bristol’s Harbourside for a night of dance and Good Times as part of the Colston Hall Presents programme on Thursday 16th July.

One of music’s greatest bands and one of the most iconic and influential musical groups of all time, CHIC’s timeless tracks and incredible live performances are the perfect recipe for the ultimate summer show on Bristol’s Harbour. Tickets will go on general sale on Friday 28th February at 10 am, and will be available for Colston Hall members via a pre-sale from Wednesday 26th February.

The one-off show comes ahead of the recently announced Colston Hall Presents: Belle and Sebastian gig the following day, Friday 17th July.

The outdoor gigs form part of the Colston Hall Presents programme which sees Bristol’s foremost concert venue programming concerts across the city in the vast majority of its independent and unique venues, while the Hall undergoes its multi-million-pound transformation.

This will be the fifth year Colston Hall has programmed at The Amphitheatre, following sell-out performances from Goldie and the Heritage Orchestra in 2015, Outlook Orchestra in 2017, Jimmy Cliff and Grandmaster Flash in 2018, and 2019’s two consecutive concerts from New Order and The Specials.

Todd Wills, artistic director at Colston Hall said:

“Nile Rodgers is, quite simply, a musical legend, and we couldn’t be more excited to bring him & CHIC to headline The Amphitheatre.

Their electric outdoor performances at festivals like Glastonbury and Coachella speak for themselves – they are among the best live acts in the world right now.

Bristol too, as a festival city, comes into its own in the summer, especially at the waterside. When combined with Nile Rodgers and his ‘Hitmaker’ guitar sounding out across the Harbour, it’s going to be one of the most memorable Harbourside shows Colston Hall has brought to the city to date.”

Coming onto the scene in the late 1970’s, Nile Rodgers and CHIC re-shaped the music scene with smash hits like ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’, ‘Good Times’ and ‘Le Freak’, which spent five weeks on top of the charts in 1978. CHIC’s revolutionary sound has influenced countless artists with Nile Rodgers going on to produce for artists like David Bowie, Diana Ross and Madonna.

In more recent times, Rodgers’ trendsetting collaborations with Daft Punk, Avicii, Sigala, Disclosure, and Sam Smith and the critical acclaim for “It’s About Time”, Nile Rodgers & CHIC’s first album in over 26 years, show that the ensemble continue to be at the forefront of contemporary music, and at the height of their powers.

Tickets will be on general sale at 10am on Friday 28th February, priced at £59.95 including booking fee, and are available from Colston Hall Box Office on 0117 203 4040 or by visiting here. Priority booking from Wednesday 26th February can be secured by purchasing a Colston Hall membership here.  For more information on the Colston Hall Presents programme, please visit their What’s On page.
