Mychael Gabriel – ‘Honesty’

Mychael Gabriel could easily live off the fame and notoriety of having been a part of Paisley Park – and he has every right to do so – but instead he’s decided to forge his own identity, and no less so with his latest single, ‘Honesty’, which comes with a stunning music video.

Mychael is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has collaborated with legendary percussionist and ally of Prince, Sheila E. ‘Honesty’ has all the explosive pop funk that we have come to expect from Gabriel. The track, written, performed, and produced by Mychael, continues on with the musical ideas he brought forth in his previous single, ‘Ghost In The Midnight‘, which he released earlier this year. But while ‘Ghost’ was slinky and swaggering, ‘Honesty’ is more of a slow burn, building up from an oozing groove to a compelling chorus. There’s a gorgeous guitar solo as well – because, why not.

The video is full on sex but most of it is left to the imagination, as we can only see from Mychael’s chest upwards. He’s being caressed by a pair of female hands, and much as he clearly enjoys it, he’s still vulnerable and unsure of himself.
