British singer, songwriter and footballer Chelcee Grimes has released her infectious new single ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love’.
A real pop triumph, the chorus to ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love’ will require a dose of hypnotherapy if you don’t want it to remain in your head. Grimes shows off her songwriting skills as the track is packed with more hooks than a cloakroom, and the catchy ‘love, love, love love’ section will leave you singing it for days.
Chelcee has said how the song materialised from her own personal experience;
“’Tryna Not Fall In Love’ is a song about trying your hardest to not go and do what I always seem to do – fall in love!”
Chelcee Grimes is certainly no one trick pony. She somehow manages to combine her passion for music and football, gaining success in both fields.
In addition, her songwriting CV is undeniably impressive, having penned tracks for Dua Lipa and BLACKPINK (‘Kiss And Make Up’), ‘Deeper’, by Olly Murs, Kylie Minogue’s single, ‘Million Miles’, Jonas Blue’s ‘Wild’, and the Tom Walker and Zara Larsson track, ‘Now You’re Gone’.
Chelcee’s football career flourished in her native Liverpool, where she played from the ages of 10 to 16 for Liverpool Ladies, before moving on to join Everton, Tottenham, and Tranmere, where she plays now. Off the pitch Grimes is also becoming a noticeable figure within the BBC’s Football presenting team, where she started out reporting on their Women’s World Cup coverage. Now she is one of the anchors on MOTDX, a brand-new prime time BBC 2 football show about the lifestyle and culture of the Premier League. Chelcee is also currently the ambassador for Barclays Women’s Super League.
I am sure 2020 will bring her lots of success on the pitch and on the stage. ‘Tryna Not Fall In Love’ is out now and can be streamed and downloaded here.
