We Get ‘A Little More’ With New Single From Dublin Band milk. Ahead Of Their Biggest Headline Show To Date December 14

It surprises me to think that Dublin indie-pop band milk. are still considered “emerging” – with their new single – yet only their third – ‘A Little More’ out today November 22, they present with the production values of a band that’s been working together for decades.

The follow up to their previous release ‘Temperature’, and debut, ‘Drama Queen’, it’s a journey of emotional and sexual intimacy, with the instrumental base a pulsating tropical sort of arrangement, produced by Flaked Studios’ Adam Redmond.

Irish music has been undergoing a serious upheaval in recent years, and milk. definitely seem to be a part of this. The soft vocals of Mark McKenna convey a smooth eroticism that at once seems both vulnerable yet confident; there’s a sense that he might be a bit dangerous, but you’re caught in his spell, and even if you’re not exactly powerless to resist, you sort of don’t want to anyway.

The instrumentals belie a multi-layered complexity that takes a few listens to truly appreciate. At first you hear the hums and taps and buzzing sounds, but on subsequent listens you find your focus diverted by the guitars, tinkling bell sounds, bird like noises…wonderful stuff.

milk.’s debut single, ‘Drama Queen’ has so far garnered more than 400,000 streams, and ‘Temperature’ received critical acclaim from Earmilk, Nialler9, GoldenPlec, and us, among others. ‘A Little More’ should definitely follow this pattern.

milk. will be supporting Delorentos on their Irish tour next month, and they’ll be playing their biggest headline show to date on December 14, at Dublin’s Workman’s Club. Tickets and further information is available here for the Delorentos tour, and for the Workman’s Club show.
