Little Comets – ‘In Search Of Elusive Little Comets’

In celebration of ten years since recording their debut album, Little Comets are today re-releasing ‘In Search of Elusive Little Comets’ exclusively on vinyl.

Placing at 54 in the UK charts at its time of release, the band felt the album deserved the vinyl-treatment after their original label refused to press any copies, and although the original wasn’t seminal, it certainly at least paved the way for the band’s success.

Despite multiple changes to the line-up, Little Comets insist the energy they had ten years ago remains. Matt Hall, Bass player said:

“Our guitarist, Mickey Coles, did all the producing, mixing and mastering and we think he’s come up with something that sounds really fresh without compromising the excitement of the original recordings.”

A decade on, Little Comets are now not so little, but the original album hasn’t aged a day, sounding fresh and relevant in a time where music has moved forward huge amounts, yet managing to represent its era perfectly. This album could quite easily be the soundtrack to a sunny afternoon knocking around Camden or the sort of thing Yannis Philippakis listens to on a Sunday evening, particularly track ‘Isles’, undoubtedly the gem of the album.

Overall, the trio have plenty to celebrate; four albums in seven years, an upcoming 16-date tour and a recent support slot of one Sam Fender no less, and whilst they may not have taken over the world, in an increasingly disposable music industry they’ve survived, and done so by developing their style, playing to their strengths and releasing consistently exciting music.

The ‘In Search of Elusive Little Comets’ vinyl goes on re-sale today 1st October and can be ordered from their official webstore.

Meanwhile, the band will be touring the album along with lots of new songs on their autumn UK Tour (dates below) with tickets available here.
