Merci-Lisa Releases Debut Single ‘Sweet Boi’

‘Sweet Boi’ is the debut single from Nigerian Afrobeat artist, Merci-Lisa. The inspirational track is available now to stream and download from all digital media platforms.

Using her own past experiences, Merci-Lisa sees ‘Sweet Boi’ as an empowering track to give other young women the inspiration to “set the expectations on how to be loved back”. It’s an up-tempo song with a vocal performance from Merci-Lisa, her spirit and energy very much reminiscent of another strong African female vocalist, Wiyaala. Combining strong rhythms and atmospheric synths, it’s a refreshing, youthful take on Afropop, and Merci-Lisa’s enthusiasm is infectious and bodes well for her future career.

Opening with a powerfully infectious beat, Merci-Lisa is strong and effusive in stating her case about what she wants in a ‘Sweet Boi’, and makes no bones about how she’s going to go about it, laying down the law as to what their relationship will be like.

Merci-Lisa, born and raised in Ogun State, began singing in Church as a young girl, and first started songwriting at the age of 10, with her father’s guidance. She’s been honing her craft since enrolling at Peter King College Of Music in 2018, and takes her inspiration from the likes of Sasha Sloan and Tiwa Savage.
