Formed in Paris in 1984, KMFDM cross techno/dance music with heavy metal to create their signature sound, an aggressive blend of industrial rock and blunt lyrics, challenging the social and political landscape. New album ‘PARADISE’ takes a deeper step into other genres, including abrasive hip-hop, dark alt rock, and avant-electro metal.
‘PARADISE’ is a brutally honest song, addressing the chaos which goes on in the world while we contentedly go about our daily lives unperturbed. True, we recall it when turn on the news, but it’s as quickly forgotten as soon as the TV is switched off. The music video for ‘PARADISE’ however draws this ever closer to our consciousness, as it is filled with raw clips from war, shootings, crimes, protests and so on, outlining the disgraceful and inhumane – not to mention unlawful – things humans do to their fellow humans, all in the name of fear, greed, and power. The planet is being destroyed by the human race, and yet nothing is being done to reverse the impact. Shouting lyrics like, “Prejudice so rotten it stinks / The whole world on the brink”, KMFDM are sick of what’s going on and want everyone to know and to actively do something about it.
