Biting Elbows Give Us What We Want With ‘Heartache’ And ‘Control’

It’s an interesting name, Biting Elbows. We thought that last year when we introduced the Moscow-based band to our readers: our opinion hasn’t changed. We’re pleased to bring two more songs from the indie band whose music is notable for its dark undertones – ‘Heartache’, and ‘Control’. Naturally, there’s videos as well.

Fans of the post-punk quartet know exactly what to expect: intense, ambitious, electrifyingly fast-paced music with clips to match. Dystopian, sci-fi and thriller inspired, videos which feel like movies. Big songs, full of grand gestures, odd and arresting sounds, bracing rhythms and anthemic choruses.

‘Heartache’ diverges from their usual tack in that it’s heavily romantic; nonetheless, it’s done “Biting Elbows style” – with that dark undercurrent. A young couple kiss on a sofa, at a party, with dim lighting, and a shaky camera. Next they’re arguing on the dance floor, the man stumbles outside, where he’s greeted by a surprise…watch below:

‘Control’ is in contrast, somewhat rougher, showing a change in the sound of the band; the song demands a sci-fi video, and it gets what it wants. An alien invasion, with the visitors from the stars taking over hosts, in search of a good time; reckless car action in an underground carpark; unspeakable acts in glamorous bathrooms; sexy people with superhuman strength; all in a day’s work for Biting Elbows. Check it out below:
