Janine The Machine – ‘Reiki’ and ‘Classy’ ft. JBAR

Jane The Machine has music in her DNA.

She frequently collabs with her older brother, the artist, songwriter, and producer, Maejor, who’s produced songs for  the likes of Drake, Justin Bieber, Frank Ocean, Jhene Aiko, among others. She’s a creator in her own right however, and a very talented one at that. She co-wrote ‘Trust Myself’, and ‘Girl Gang’, from ‘Beauty Marks’, the upcoming album for Ciara; and she’s also worked with artists such as Teyana Taylor, The Dream, and Tyra Banks.
The lead single from her Jane’s new EP is named for the ancient Japanese healing practice of Reiki, a mystical force that doesn’t let go until the process is complete. The same may be said for Jane’s song of the same name, which is filled with much of the same energy as the technique itself, while the music video for the song sees Jane seemingly embody Reiki, she floats through a garden like an otherworldly being.

‘Reiki’ is a full on pop piece, complete with chunky synths, and a beat that will keep you going the whole time, and Jane’s vocals have been given an electronic treatment appropriate for one who subtitles herself, ‘The Machine’. With all that in mind it still manages to surprise the listener and keep you on your toes.

We feature a second track from Janine, ‘Classy’, which sees her collaborate with Atlanta emcee JBar, and proves that she has many strings on her bow, and can rap just as well as she can sing:

‘Classy’, from her 2018 EP, ‘High Places’, comes with a clip that’s a stark contrast to ‘Reiki’. Janine and JBar are seen on the Niewendijk in downtown Amsterdam, wandering the streets, taking in the sights that the Dutch capital can offer. The pair look completely at home, although they are far from Atlanta.
