Australian Indie Pop Starlet Bel Woods Releases Debut Single ‘Running’

Released today, ‘Running’ is the debut single from Australian Indie pop singer, Bel Woods. The track is now available on all digital platforms, with a music video to follow on May 30.

Originally from Wauchope, on the far north coast of New South Wales, but now based in Sydney, Bel has been musically inclined from an early age, but found her true calling to music when she discovered Alanis Morisette’s ‘Jagged Little Pill’, and worked out the tabs to play it on her guitar.

From there she started recording her own compositions at home. Bel’s move to Sydney facilitated her playing acoustic gigs in the eclectic inner western suburb of Newtown, including a gig supporting Sarah McLeod, from Adelaide band The Superjesus, back in 2014.

‘Running’ starts as it means to finish. A peppy drumbeat opens, setting the pace, while scant jangly guitar and twanging bass perfectly offsets Bel’s alto vocals. Bel’s lyrical style is a flow on, inner monologue, where she lets the listener look inside her head, her inmost thoughts. With words literally running – as water in a stream – it’s easy to get swept away.
