Jordan Indiana Gonzalez Releases Self-Titled Album And Evokes A Familiar Feeling With Guitar Led Sound

‘Jordan Indiana Gonzalez’ is the name of both an artist and a full length record, released today. Gonzalez, the artist, combines a soulful sound with gorgeous pop acoustic vibes.

Growing up in St Louis, Jordan imbibed the vivid musical history of the city, and discovered at the age of 12, when he first picked up a guitar, that he was a natural multi-instrumentalist, and decided to pursue it as his life’s passion. He entered the intensive jazz programme at Webster University, and steeped himself in the music scene, playing open mics, coffee shops, and clubs, as well as a stint at St Louis’ famous Duck Room.

With a sound which falls somewhere between Shawn Mendes and Ed Sheeran, Jordan Indiana Gonzalez is a chart success waiting to happen. The thirteen track album has been a labour of love, which, he says, he started writing the day he decided to turn pro as a musician. He initially recorded some of the tracks in his parents’ basement, before deciding to go all the way with them. He fleshed them out a bit more in his friend’s makeshift studio, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. From there it was a simple step to go to Nashville, whereupon he fell in love with the city and its vibrant music culture: so much so that he decided ot move there permanently, setting up base in the Downtown district.

Although he studied jazz, Jordan doesn’t see that as his “style”:

“I experimented artistically with various styles but found my place writing songs that I simply like to sing along to.”

Blending pop punk and hip hop influences (not too dissimilar to what Ed Sheeran does – case in point ‘Losing You’, the third track on the album), Jordan found a style that suits him, and which is eminently radio-ready.
‘Memory’, the eighth track on the album is a Shawn Mendes-style song, light and acoustic, just Jordan’s voice accompanied at first only by ukulele, before being joined by further strings and simple clapping rhythms. It’s a lightly touching love story, with a super-catchy chorus.

‘Jordan Indiana Gonzalez’, the debut album from Jordan Indiana Gonzalez, is out today. Find Jordan online on his official website, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube.
