Greg Antista and The Lonely Streets – ‘Goodnight Ramona’

Greg Antista has been a face in the California punk scene for the better part of three decades, having played with the late Steve Soto, in Joyride, whose 1992 debut set, ‘Johnny Bravo’, is a landmark in that state’s punkpop scene. He’s toured Europe, including Rebellion Festival in the UK with Foxy, another fun and exciting punk band. Now he’s got his own group, The Lonely Streets, who will be releasing their debut album, ‘Shake, Stomp and Stumble’, produced by Paul Miner, in May this year. First drop from the album is the brisk and hooky, ‘Goodnight Ramona’.

The Lonely Streets are made up of veterans of the SoCal independent music scene, including Jessica Kaczmarek, of Busstop Hurricanes on lead guitar, Jorge E. Disguster, of Mink Daggers, on drums, and bassist Warren Renfrow, from Cadillac Tramps, and Manic Hispanic, and who has also been a touring member of The Damned, and The Adolescents. The band take Antista’s exuberant, infuriated (or infuriating?) and humorous songs, and breathe glorious life into them. They’re all artists in their own rights, and know what to do and how to do it.

‘Goodnight Ramona’ is a song of longing, heartbreak, and miscommunication in a relationship. and the accompanying video reflects this. The Lonely Streets set up shop in the loungeroom of a couple whose love is genuine, but who are quite divergent when it comes to what appropriate attention means. Watch the video to see if it all works out!
