Jonah Kue’s ‘Whip’ Is A Gorgeously Laid Back R’n’B Surefire Hit

Originally from New York but now based in Chicago, Jonah Kue’s influences are varied, ranging from Sade, to Darren Hayes, and Janet Jackson. His beautiful vocals are showcased in his latest single, ‘Whip’, which was released on March 1. ‘Whip’ is the first track from his forthcoming album, ‘Midnight Oil’, the follow up from his 2016 album, ‘The Foreigner’.

Born in New York, but growing up in Chicago, and North Carolina, Jonah Kue is a second Generation Bangladeshi immigrant, and his music is written from his life experiences, lust and love, social issues, race relations, and many more.

Jonah’s style owes as much to R’n’B as it does to anything else. His voice is smooth and subtle, and his immense talent is evident right from the very first few bars. The laid back style of the music is the perfect match for his voice, and Jonah picks up aspects of the music and effectively harmonises with the instrumentation. Light backing vocals complement his voice perfectly.

Jonah’s songwriting talent is incredibly clever, rich, and imaginative. Lyrically Jonah is able to very effectively convey the idea of someone thinking about their lover, and how they make them feel. “Whipped cream smiles on my face come alive from your taste” are a word picture that instantly conjures up someone with a huge toothy grin; the immense happiness is made very vivid. Likewise, “Counting days we waste away up till the ones we can’t let go” tells a story that will be very familiar to anyone who has ever been in love.

Jonah Kue’s new single ‘Whip’, as well as his other music, is now available to stream and download on Spotify, Tidal, Google Play, Deezer, Amazon, iTunes and Apple Music, YouTube Music, Yandex, and Soundcloud. Keep an eye out for his new album, ‘Midnight Oil’.
