Gabrielle Aplin has today released her new single, ‘Nothing Really Matters’, a celebration of positivity and self-love.
Speaking about the single, Gabrielle said,
“ ‘Nothing Really Matters’ is about the battle between the excitement of wanting to open up, and the fear of opening up. I was having one of those days where I questioned the validity and importance of everything around me, and how much time, energy and thought I gave to things that really, didn’t matter. It’s about focusing on what’s really important to you.
“I wanted to push myself vocally, challenge the way I think about structure in a song, experiment with how I say what I need to say lyrically, whilst still focusing on what it is that makes me the artist I am. This song has really pushed me and surprised me and I’m so excited to release it into the world!”
‘Nothing Really Matters’ is the follow up to her previous single, ‘My Mistake’, which she released late last year. That track saw Gabrielle pull right back on production, and bare her soul, in a beautiful piano ballad, which was blisteringly honest.
‘My Mistake’, and ‘Nothing Really Matters’, are both fine examples of Gabrielle Aplin’s versatility and prowess as both a singer and songwriter. She is able to maintain peak vocal delivery while losing nothing of the superb lyrics.
Gabrielle’s new album will feature some of her most personal lyrics, and a musical breadth not previously expressed.
She will be giving fans a first taste of her new music this summer, announcing that she will be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival, on the Acoustic Stage, and at Boardmasters Festival on August 9. More live dates will be announced soon.
