AURORA KUDA – ‘VIVO PERSA’

Italian artist Aurora Kuda explores the conflict and confusion which are parts of the highs and lows of chasing and holding onto love, with her latest song, and accompanying video, ‘Vivo Persa’. The title roughly translates into English as meaning, ‘Life Is Lost’, and tells a tale which will be instantly recognisable to anyone who has experienced the complications implicit with their desire to be wanted and needed.

The video was directed by fellow countryman, Paolo Galassi, and it captures the emotional upheaval of an entire romantic relationship – in one afternoon. Aurora perfectly suits the role of a famous actress and singer attending her own record release party, which has been organised by her partner, Gabriele (the role is beautifully played by renowned Italian photographer, Gabriele Rigon).
Another guest at the party appears to threaten their relationship; suspicious, intimate conversations cause in swift succession, jealousy, confusion, and a private quarrel. The relationship appears to be doomed, until it is revealed by Gabriele that the “other woman” had been asked – by him – to bring the engagement ring he proffered to Aurora. Swift save!
Shot in and around a gorgeously swanky classic Italian villa, in the countryside outside of Bolgona, the clip shifts between Aurora’s bold, striking performance, and the confidence shaking events her character is facing.
It’s hard to believe that ‘Vivo Persa’ is Aurora’s first album. She’s been writing, recording, and performing since she was 16, and has been honing her style all these years. It’s also the first time she’s recorded in the studio, but she’s made sure her debut was a good one. Tracks were recorded at Fortress Studios, in London, and Italy’s Sebasound Studio, in Santarcangelo di Romagna. Mastering was done by Greg Calbi, from NYC’s legendary Sterling Sound, who has worked with all the greats, including David Bowie, John Lennon, and Bruce Springsteen.
