Riding high following the release of her breakout single and accompanying music video, we caught up with young talent Allegra to talk all things music, creative inspirations, and what 2019 has in store for her….
Hi Allegra! So can you tell us a bit about what it was like to film the music video for ‘All About Us’?
Filming the music video to my first single ‘All About Us’ was a surreal experience for me. At a young age I always dreamed of what it would be like to shoot my own music video but never in a million years would I of thought that I would actually have one! I have never had so much fun, I didn’t want it to end. I think it was because everyone who was involved bonded very quickly. We were kinda just doing something we all love. It was so lovely to connect with everyone through something we are all passionate about.
Where did you get the inspiration to write the track?
With all the songs I have written, my ideas do come from personal experiences because I think that it is so important to have emotion in my music. I want people to connect to me through my music. ‘All About Us’ is about taking a chance in a relationship, it is about taking a risk because you never know what might happen…
What’s one quirky thing your fans might not know about you?
I don’t know if this can be seen as a quirky thing about me but as a young girl, around 7 Years old, I would always put on shows with my younger cousins for my parents and my Aunt and uncle. We called our “group” ‘The Starts’ and we would even make them pay for entry and give it to charity. I was the bossy one who told everyone what to do and the show would be around 45 minutes long, ha!
What was the recording process like for the track? Especially given the people that worked on it with you!
The recording process did take a bit of a while because ‘All About Us’ was my first single. I wanted it to come out to the best of my ability because this would be the first thing my fans would hear. Recording it with my team was just so much fun, and a truly unforgettable experience…
The track has a very summery vibe, what’s your favourite thing to do on a hot summer’s day?
Well a weird thing about me is that I can not sunbathe! I can not just sit in the sun for hours and cook hah! I love the sun and topping up my vitamin D but I like doing other things. I like to swim in the sea but I also like to work out in the sun because it makes me feel so energetic!
Have you got any more songs hidden up your sleeve?
I might have many songs up my sleeves… You’ll have to wait and see!
Who are your main inspirations in music and life?
Well I love Beyoncé’s music because it makes me feel so confident but she’s is also such an inspiration of mine! She is such a creative and hard working artist who works on putting the right messages out to her young fans!
Can we look forward to the possibility of any live shows this year?
I will likely be doing some select live shows this Summer and a possibly a school tour at some stage, but the main focus for this year is in producing and releasing new songs and videos
